Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can attend a workshop?

Workshops work best with between 4 and 20 participants. This size allows everyone to engage meaningfully in discussions while still providing enough diversity of strengths to explore team patterns. Smaller groups often lead to deeper, more reflective conversations, while larger groups bring a broader mix of perspectives and team dynamics. If your team is larger, we can discuss running multiple sessions.

What do staff need to do before the workshop?

Before the session, each participant completes the Gallup CliftonStrengths assessment. Participants receive a link and complete the assessment online. It typically takes around 20 minutes and should be done in a quiet, focused environment to ensure the results accurately reflect how each person naturally thinks and works. Participants bring their Top 5 strengths results to the workshop.

Do workshops need to be delivered in-person?

Common Ground focuses primarily on in-person workshops. Being in the room together helps people read the dynamics of the team more clearly and often leads to richer conversations and stronger insight.

Is this suitable for leadership teams?

Yes. The workshop works particularly well for leadership teams and established professional groups, where clearer understanding of how people think and contribute can significantly improve decision-making and collaboration.

What if my team is very busy and under pressure?

That’s often when this work is most useful. The workshop is intentionally short and focused. It provides a chance to step back briefly, gain clarity, and identify small adjustments that can make everyday work easier — without taking people away from their responsibilities for an extended period.

What if someone can’t attend on the day?

That happens occasionally. Where helpful, we can arrange a short individual make-up session so they can understand their strengths and engage in ongoing team conversations. These sessions are optional and can be organised after the workshop.

We are a team of four. Is that too small for a workshop?

Not at all. Smaller groups often lead to very thoughtful conversations and deeper understanding between team members. The workshop works well with small teams because the focus is on how individuals think, communicate, and contribute. We welcome discussions about teams of less than four and individuals.

Why is the workshop two hours?

The workshop is intentionally designed to be short, focused, and practical. Rather than covering large amounts of content, it focuses on helping teams quickly understand how they naturally think, communicate, and work together — and how to apply that insight in their day-to-day work. In many cases, a short, well-facilitated session creates more usable insight than a full day of content.

How is the workshop priced?

Pricing depends primarily on the number of participants and the location of the workshop. The investment reflects more than the time in the room. It includes workshop design, preparation, facilitation, and the CliftonStrengths assessment for each participant — as well as the experience of delivering a focused session that produces practical insight for the team. We’re happy to provide a clear quote after a short conversation about your team.

What if my team is skeptical about workshops?

That’s very normal. Many people have experienced workshops that felt overly theoretical or uncomfortable. This session is designed to be practical, respectful of people’s time, and grounded in real work situations. Most participants find the conversation quickly becomes engaging once they begin exploring their own strengths.

Is this relevant for teams who already work well together?

Yes. The workshop is often most valuable for teams who are already functioning well but want to work together more effectively. It helps make existing strengths more visible, improves how differences are understood, and creates a clearer shared language that can strengthen an already capable team.

Is this suitable for people at different career stages or across generations?

Yes. The workshop is designed to be relevant for early-career professionals through to senior leaders, and works well across different generations. Rather than focusing on age or experience, it focuses on how individuals naturally think, communicate, and approach their work. These patterns are relevant regardless of role, tenure, or background. In mixed teams, this often becomes particularly valuable — helping people better understand differences in perspective, communication style, and approach to work.

When teams clearly understand how each person thinks, contributes and works:

  • communication becomes easier

  • people use their strengths more intentionally

  • tensions reduce naturally without forced effort

  • differences become useful instead of disruptive

  • conversations become clearer and more productive
